  1. I´m considering this POS system for my restaurant. I have to agree with "zinque". Inventory management is really crucial, time consuming and expensive, given the labor costs. There aren't many POS systems out there with a proper inventory management feature. If POS LAVU gets this done, I can't imagine a restaurant manager that wouldn't buy it.

Lavu has some inventory features but you can also use Quickbooks and their recently acquired company lettuce, together you will have the full accounting, management and inventory you need

  2. Hey guys! Just to let you know in advance, the only printers POSLavu Support provides more advanced setup/support with are the Star TSP654 Thermal Printer and the Star SP742 Impact Printer.

If you call in to support to troubleshoot any other printers, there's only limited support we can provide (and that you've probably tried, like turning it off and on, checking cables, etc).

I definitely understand that you may need a different option or something else would be more cost effective, but support unfortunately isn't able to get our hands on the many other printers on the market to work with and test. That being said, we have an amazing community, and you may be able to ask other forum members for an assist if you run into any issues!

is this still the same? are these the ONLY officically supported printers? i'm wondering if STAR TSP650 is also officially supported

  3. VeriFone’s PAYware Mobile e335 has NFC, EMV, magswipe, barcode scanner and many features we would like to employ at some point, also locally the CC procesors are only Banks (in Panama), and they tend to like verifone snd some traditional magswipe countertop terminals, but they now have all to change in the next 6 months to also support EMV because all the bank cards have to be chip cards.

This model seems to have everything we would like to have on a Lavu terminal, so I was wondering if there will someway this one can be included in the next update.

  4. can anyone recommend a good tested with lavu card reader for new ipads that is compatible with EMV CHIP? I have seen many for Magswipe, but the magnetic solution is 45 years old technology and it is not secure, even with the highest efforts and in some countries the EMV chip solution is being implemented to add one more layer of security.

perhaps the coming Magtek DynaPro Mini will become our holy grail?

  5. There are some interesting features i have seen being requested all around, and even some of them mentioned to be in the roadmap already.

My question is, to everyone: where are we when talking about Sales, cost of goods, and labor? what do you think is missing on Lavu and how often would you use it? also, some info on your particular setup or store type will be good to understand your needs. Consider the latest Lavu version out there.

  6. zinque, as mentioned and to be more clear, even if nothing is done to the software, it should run better in terms of wifi connection and processing because of the better hardware. Remember also the LLS could have improvements now that Mavericks is out and some changes are due.

I will be installing a tottally new setup before december (for a Deli) so i'll post thoughts. Hope the software runs some improvements in the future now that there is 64bit processing is out too.

  7. it is mentioned that lavu now supports passbook, but there is no info anywhere on how to implement, what it would be capable of doing, how to do it, etc etc. It would be good however to create a loyalty card based on the customer info database, create an image and details in the passbook card from the management system.  Be able to create maybe 10 different types of cards.  Use Fence alert, or push information to the passbook users and create some marketing campaings based on passbook.  Maybe make it just for Gold or Plat users??

Also, the customer database would need to grow and have a lot of info (facebook, twitter, work email, personal email, linkedin, work address, personal address, CC, etc)

  8. eckenroed

i believe our Deli would benefit a lot from all these options, hope the Lavu team adds all these features soon, specially the Inventory and Customer billing ideas you mentioned, these are nice different features when it comes to selecting a POS system.  Another thing i´m trying to add to these barcode printing is to automate a weight/scale info to a barcode item and introduced to the inventory.

  9. some of the features have been requested before, but this is how i see it to work altogether:

In the Deli and Bakery environments, you need to have a scale/barcode printer, and to get that info saved in the inventory so it can be read later from the POS. It should be introduced in the inventory to be read later because bread and some stuff might be paid immediately it is scaled, but a nice premium steak or cheese can be weighted and bagged by the butcher in the morning, put in display and sold in the afternoon hours.

Additionally, not only a scale is needed but a simple barcode printer, the reason is that some stuff in a deli are retail type, like soda cans, or candies and it is a lot more easier to include the item with a barcode scaner to the order.

For the retail part, maybe an RFID/barcode printer would be even better where you can create a FENCE so you can receive an alarm if the item is stolen.
