Kingmakers (Columbus, OH)

HINT: You can be loud in this library.

OBJECT: select a game from the extensive library shelves, pass the time sharing laughs with friends, and enjoy a quality beverage while potentially learning something new.

Kingmakers' board game parlour is all about the old school social experience of head-to-head game playing while enjoying deliciously flavored pretzels and a rotating selection of beers, wines, and caffeinated beverages.

Along with well known board games like Monopoly, Kingmakers also offers an obscure board game collection including gems like “Quadrago†and “Race for the Galaxy.†On staff and mingling with guests are Board Game Sommeliers -- gaming aficionados, connoisseurs, and instructors available to help customers understand the rules for each game.

“Sometimes it’s hard to understand why the rules are there until you’ve played the game,†said owner and operator Malika de Silva. “Our sommeliers are on hand to guide you… we want to make it an enjoyable process to learn a game for the first time.â€

Lavu POS has helped Kingmakers handle their unique type of payment method. “We don't take cash and ask that every guest start a tab that holds their ‘Library Fee,’†de Silva said. “We are still excited about how easy it is for guests to pay when they’re finished.†

There’s no paper and no cash at Kingmakers, but a record of every action taken is available in the Lavu back of house. “I recently gave my accountant access to Lavu's backend and reporting, and he was impressed!â€
