Fast Cash & Repeat Round Buttons

24 posts in this topic

I use Lavu in a high volume bar. There needs to be two buttons added to the main screen....

1: Fast Cash - when a customer only wants a beer we need a button that will auto close the order to exact cash.

As of right now here are the steps for my staff....

1: Create new tab

2: Click on name tab "staff name#"

3: Ring in item

4: Click Check out

5: Click Cash

Too many steps. We can eliminate steps 4 & 5 with adding one button.

2: Repeat round - Or allow non admins the ability to use the + next to the item and not the -

I completely agree.  I posted this topic in another part of the forum.

 1) FAST CASH BUTTON

There are too many steps/buttons to ring up a quick item such as a quick beer. My clients need to be able to 1) Ring in an item as Fast Cash, without hitting the a) check out screen button, then cash, then c) no receipt.
2) Re-order button

There is great need for a re-order button, So one doesn't have to hit a menu, hit the category, scroll around to find the button. It would help greatly to be able to add another "Bud Light" from the ticket on the left.

These 2 things can decrease the time someone spends in front of the POS, therefore increasing their time in front of their customers.  These are basic functions on most all other POS.  I feel this is very urgent and needs immediate attention.

I have been pointing out that POS Lavu (although they advertise it) are not set up to operate Bar's. A bar has some of the highest demand and specific requirements out of all establishments that use POS's (aside from Retail outlets that is).

For our bar, we have a "FastCash" option, but it's not the same as what you two have described. We "Exempt" tax from cash transactions only (while charging it if someone is paying by CC). So we have a tax exempt option called "FastCash". However, it is still way too many steps to add this one. I have asked probably a dozen times (and I know the POS Lavu staff is probably getting sick of me bringing it up) to make the Tax Exempt options more accessible. For example, on the checkout screen, I would love to be able to just tap the tax line and it displays any tax exempt options I have. Right now I have to tap the pos lavu button, then tap tax exempt to see those options. That takes a few seconds longer per order.

We can't change the menu for this because we are charging taxes on the item for some customers, but not for others. We don't charge tax on cash because it speeds up the process so much that it offsets tax loses. So we pay taxes out of our pocket on cash transactions and still come out ahead.

Basically, this means I want three things...

1) easier access to tax exempt options

2) A "Quick Checkout" option (what you call "FastCash") where once an order is built we just tap on it from the order screen and it (based on the settings of "yes" or "no") exempts cash and closes it out

3) Re-Order button.

I guess we would need to be able when ordering to build a "round" of drinks where we say "start round", enter the drinks, then tap "end round". The system would notate what was added during the round, and then a "re-order round" button would add the exact same items that are stored in the round for that ticket (either until it's closed, or until we hit "start round" again to record new round options).

I agree with the above posters.  Fast cash is a necessity.  Please put it in the next release!

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the feedback! I know there are a lot of people asking for fast cash. 2.2 does make the process MUCH quicker however we are always looking to make improvements in future versions.

Thanks,
Rafael

Does anybody have access to an Aloha or one of the other POS that do fast cash.  I've spoke to a couple people at Lavu that are not sure what I'm talking about and I don't have my Aloha anymore.  A short video posted on here might make this easier to get.  Just a thought.

Imagine the fast cash button being at the top of the screen in between "dining room" and "split."  Then imagine hitting it after a sale used with cash, saving you from finding and hitting the checkout button, and finding and hitting the cash button.

Also imagine a setting in the back end where when using fast cash, the sales tax can optionally be removed (that's what we need..we don't charge tax on cash transactions).

Also, imagine that when you hit the fast cash option it prompts you with the total so you can confirm (that can also be a setting if you want).

This way we can close out tickets much faster and skip 2-3 taps per ticket. Saves a TON of time for a place that sells and closes a ticket every 10 seconds during our 3 hour rush.

We used it all the time with Aloha.  Just would like to have a video to show developers.  I've been asked about that and I just don't have access anymore.

Maybe one painless way is instead of a checkout button... use an ipad gesture to get to the checkout screen (4 finger swipe to checkout). I think someone posted it somewhere around before.

Fast cash button seems like a good idea as well, I just forsee people making a lot of order entry errors and pressing the cash button by accident.

I wanted to add another vote to repeat round as well.

There already is a gesture that pulls in the checkout screen.

However, FastCash is a standard feature in nearly all POS systems, so our goal is to get it into Lavu. Of course, if you tap the "FastCash" button, you can have a setting in the back end that would first confirm the amount. This way if it's tapped by accident, they would still get a confirmation that says "apply payment of xxx?" and you can tap "no" if it was an accident.

Also, the fast cash button would be semi-isolated on top so that it's not easy to accidentally tap :)

Hello,

While on the order screen swipe to the left using two fingers and the checkout screen should slide in.

Thanks,

Rafael

Hey BuckeyePOS,

I agree that it can be frustrating. We did a test the other day, it is 13 taps of the screen from the login menu to sell a single item for cash at our location. We have a few extra taps because we sales tax exempt cash transactions (we are a bar which is normal for a bar). The item we were selling was even in our "Quick Items" menu. So that means that for us that 13 taps is the MINIMUM number of taps to sell a single item quickly. That's a lot of taps. That also assumes we use the auto named tab since we are closing it out. ( we do about 50% tabs and 50% quickserve and its more button pushes to try and swap between the two).

I would be surprised if at least a FastCash feature wasn't in place this calendar year. The owner of my location is very close to switching POS system simply because of this one feature. He did the math and timed bartenders selling items via cash and each weekend he says it costs him close to $1,000 in lost sales because of the extra taps. At $4,000 per month he can pay for a new POS system fairly quickly.

He (the owner of my location) and I both love Lavu and we fully believe and support it, but it's hard to put $4,000 a month in the "loss" category and keep chugging along with the status quo.

While I don't think it would be appropriate for me to officially talk about what is coming up feature wise just yet for our upcoming releases... I will say I would be very surprised if this was not a feature in place this calendar year as well ;)

Please Please Please have this in place soon. My restaurant is in a resort town with very high volume for about 8 months of the year. We are almost there and my bartenders already complain daily about how many steps they have to take to ring up one drink.

AGREE! Ability to hit 'fast cash' or swipe a card from the order screen (rather than going to the checkout screen) would be huge. Thanks for making this feature request!

Lavu has sent out information on this feature in the Specialist Newsletter.  They have for the first time ever announced what features they are working on.  If you haven't seen this list of upcoming features, It's the most amazing thing I have ever seen.  Anxiously awaiting 2.4!!

Hello,

We have not forgotten about this feature request. I can see that it is assigned to a developer so it has been accepted. However, I cannot provide a timeline for this integration. I will talk to my Development team as this would be a great addition in our new version 3.0 order pad and features.
